Greetings,
Happy Holidays to everyone, I know Christmas has passed and I didn't get out a Christmas greeting to everyone through this blog, but I was busy with my family, and felt it was more important to spend time with them, than worry about a blog post. So, I hope your Christmas holiday went well, as well as mine did.
New Year's is upon us, we are in the final stretch of days before things come to an end for 2007. What a year it has been, I tell you, for 2007! A lot of life changes happened this year, as many of you know. I had 2 great seasons of coaching track in the spring, and cross-country in the fall, plus a host of great clients to train from January through September. As you know, I ended my personal training daily services in October, in order to prepare and focus on the new leg in my life's journey: that of discerning a call to the priesthood or religious life.
As a part of my discernment, I came to a call to create a training guide for Catholic Athletes, which blends in quality workouts with quality prayer time. I have still a ways to go on this project, as I'm making a whole re-vamp of it. I really want to make this a spectacular guide, and I realize it cannot be rushed.
What's ahead for 2008? Well, for me, its preparing to enter the seminary next fall, and to take on all there is to take on when that starts up in August. God's in charge on this one.
For my own workouts, I have been working out extensively with kettlebells and my Perfect Push-Up device. My 'pre-Christmas' gifts to myself of a 45# kettlebell and the Perfect Push-Up device are quite pleasant to use. I will start training snatches & push-presses with it, probably out in the garage soon. I train in the basement for now, and its low height doesn't allow me to do any snatches, or basic presses for that matter. I have to kneel down in order to do military presses (hey, make do with the space you got, at least I've been getting good practice on bent presses lately!). I will admit that I haven't ran since my cross-country coaching ended, primarily due to extremely cold conditions, and frankly, not much time to go out & run with my new 'work & pray' schedule I have for my discernment. I have been getting in swing workouts for my basic cardio needs, let alone my new job has me moving constantly around with detailing cars, which burns plenty of calories a day as I've discovered.
